I would say being in contact with my parents, taking the time to connect with friends and family…just connecting with them even if it’s a 5 minute FaceTime [to] keep myself sane. Connection with humans is most important.
What was most important to you before you had to social distance/quarantine?
A lot of things. I probably prioritized exercising, eating healthy, and trying to get closer to my career goals…above connecting with friends for sure.
What’s the first thing you’ll do when this is over?
Go out to a concert.
What are you doing to pass the time?
I am talking to my parents on a daily basis, I’m trying to schedule one phone call with a friend every other day just to check in and remember that I have friends, and work, and try to go outside every day.
What makes you happy right now?
The time that I get alone, ironically. The space and the time to self-reflect and the space and time to do things on my own terms a little more.
What would you tell yourself a month ago with the knowledge you have now?
I would say “be nice to yourself because it’s gonna be an adjustment and you’re not gonna get everything down the first week.” My goal was to play guitar every day and practice for 3 hours a day. I have not even touched the guitar for fucking 4 days because it’s such an adjustment! I don’t want to go crazy. Whether you’re productive or not is not the point of this. It’s just about making the best of the experience and that can just mean…not something super “productive”.
