What’s most important to you right now?
Staying connected as best I can with my loved ones. I think in a lot of ways, this has made us more connected than ever. My immediate family has weekly hangouts on Houseparty, so it’s been nice to connect. I’ve been FaceTiming my parents more. That’s really important to me. Trying to stay grounded.
What was most important to you before you had to social distance?
I think I was worried about a lot of other things like travel and going out. Feeling the need to go out all the time. It’s shifted in that I’ve had to just be at home and really be okay with that. Not having to travel. I cancelled a trip to New York City, I was supposed to go to Spain. I guess being alive and being safe is more important.
What’s the first thing you’ll do when this is over?
I just want to hug people! I want to be in physical proximity. It’s not going to happen for a while, but just be able to get together with people and have a meal, drink, and celebrate.
What are you doing to pass the time?
I have been reading a lot, which I would have been doing anyway, but I think the kind of books I’ve been reading has changed. I’ve been reading a lot of self-help and spiritual books. I’ve been doing some bird watching with my cats. I’ve been binge watching stuff on Netflix.
What makes you happy right now?
When the sun comes out.
What would you tell yourself two months ago with the knowledge you have today?
You’re going to get the chance to take a look at yourself and what’s really important, and what you still need to work on for yourself and your journey. It’s going to make you grow. There’s a lot of growth that’s going to happen. Rest is important. Being able to pause and really go inward is necessary.
