Health and happiness, which is not that different from normal life, but really trying to stay as safe and healthy as possible being pregnant. Staying inside makes me feel safer. I’m trying to stay as positive as possible because it’s supposed to be a happy time. Even though the world is completely crazy right now, I’m trying to stay in my happy pregnancy bubble.
What was most important to you before you had to social distance?
Before, I would say health and happiness, but when I really think about it, I was always trying to post more, do more, create more, always churning out more content, always looking for the next big project. I’m still doing a lot of creative projects, but it’s in a less ego driven way. It’s more just trying to be balanced than to be ambitious.
What’s the first thing you’ll do when this is over?
Go to the beach, go for a normal walk around the block without having to zigzag or be in full gear, go to the movies, go to brunch, travel, and if it’s possible, still host a baby shower!
What are you doing to pass the time?
The one great thing is that the demand for recipes is through the roof. People are at home and have to cook for themselves, so I’m really inspired by that and I’m really excited to be churning out recipes and getting in the kitchen. Doing my regular work with photography, writing, playing with my cats, organizing and cleaning.
What makes you happy right now?
Our cats are a huge happiness motivator, good food from scratch, I’m not watching tons of television, which is interesting to me.
What would you tell yourself two months ago with the knowledge you have today?
To slow down and stop stressing about stupid stuff. It’s really easy to not dwell on drama and pettiness right now. A lot of people are reconnecting. It feels like a lot of the stupid, petty issues that some relationships have have disintegrated. It’s not the big picture. Everything’s going to be ok.
It’s weird because I’m not in a normal space, I’m pregnant, so I can’t compare my pre-life to this, because being in this space is happier for me. It’s not easy to compare before and after, but I think happiness is simple things.
