Atty:Right now it’s preparing for the possibility of having no in-person theater work or teaching. So [I'm] learning lots of online programs and then also trying to create a daily schedule that I can stick to with this vacuum of empty time. And getting outside.
Thomas: Probably friends and family. Making sure we’re staying connected.
What was most important to you before you had to social distance/quarantine?
Atty:Meeting for rehearsals! 18 Hours a day I would be in the theater building working with people or working in my office or in the library. We just closed a show before spring break so I was used to being around people for 12-18 hours a day actively working and breathing in the space with people.
Thomas:Expression. Artistic Expression. Being able to use my voice artistically. It still is but yeah, it’s been pretty important.
What’s the first thing you’ll do when this is over?
Atty:Hug some people! Honestly when all this is over…just go back to making theater.
Thomas: I will probably go to an event of some kind. Something live. Probably at this point a sporting event. I just want to go and be amongst an atmosphere of people experiencing something together.
What are you doing to pass the time?
Atty:Making a short film that we can do with just Thomas and I in our apartment. Updating all the resumes. And rewriting an entire syllabus for Acting on Camera [class].
Thomas:I still have to do work from home. I’m also editing a pilot episode that we filmed in January. Editing photos–doing small photography projects around the house. And writing for a grant.
What would you tell yourself a month ago with the knowledge you have now
Atty:Have more social time with your friends while you can. More massage trains!
Thomas:To enjoy the little things as much as possible because you totally will never understand the magnitude of the little things until they’re gone.
What makes you happy right now?
Atty: Hiking. Any excuse to get outside. Strangers’ dogs–I’m glad they can’t pass it.
Thomas: Being with my dear fiancé and getting to spend a lot more time together.Trying to support each others ways of getting through this…she came up with this idea to film this little short film and it’s been nice to just be there for her and let her direct and write and follow her lead. That’s been nice to support her artistic expression and just be with her.
